Henry J. Bannister
U.S. Army veteran served during
World War II
Henry J. Bannister, 90, of Washington, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday,
April 1, 2004, in his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 5, 1913, in Buchanan, Va., a son of Jenkins
and Bessie O. Henderson Bannister.
Mr. Bannister served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was formerly the bishop of his own church called the Baptised
Believers.
Mr. Bannister was self-employed in the sanitation business.
On June 4, 1955, he married Rose E. Johnson, who died August
31, 2002.
Surviving are a brother, William Bannister of Roanoke, Va.;
several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
He made his home with his niece, Melvon Poole of Washington.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a son, Edwin J. Bannister;
two brothers, Lee and James Bannister; and a sister, Mary Holley.
